Kiwanja cha Ndege Kilwa Masoko
Kilwa Masoko airport (ICAO: HTKI, IATA: KIY) is among of the airports managed, maintained and operated by Tanzania Airports Authority (TAA). The airport was established and constructed during the colonial time in the year 1954 by the British government.
The airport is operational for 12 hours 12/7 from sunrise to sunset. The airport is located at Kilwa Masoko in Kilwa District 1 Nautical miles North from Kilwa Masoko Town.
As per ICAO Annex 14, Kilwa Masoko Airport is classified as a Code 1B Airport. Infrastructures available at the Airport include gravel runways (Runway 17 and Runway 35) with 1,800m length and width of 30m (1500m*30m) and grass apron with 3880M2 capable of accommodating four (4) midsized aircrafts (Cessna caravan 208)
Other facilities include Cat One (1) Rescue and Fire Fighting Services (RFFS) station and meteorological observatory stations (OBS).
