Construction of Geita airport began in 2017 built to serve the region of Geita. The airport got its first scheduled flight in January 2021 by Air Tanzania connecting Julius Nyerere International Airport and Mwanza Airport.
Geita airport operates 12 hours a day (sun rise and sun set operations) with one scheduled flight Air Tanzania connecting Julius Nyerere International Airport and Mwanza Airport operating Thrice per week being Monday,Thursday and Saturday.
